Performance Management provides users the option, if configured properly, to choose whether items are shown with their Display Name or Alias Name when an Alias has been configured.
This will discuss setting up a User that only sees Display Name or Alias Name item names without an option to switch for improved user access and control.
If Users should only see a Display Name or Alias Name, but not the other, this will provide a solution.
Users are able to find Devices using Name Alias, but not Name. Doesn't matter what the User Configuration is set to, it doesn't show items that match the Name when searched. Only the Name Alias.

The Users Role is assigned both of these Role Rights at the same time.
For configuration of Users that need to be limited to Device Alias Names only take these steps:
For any Role assigned to Users who should only see Item Name Alias values:
Any user assigned to a Role that only has the 'View Item Name Alias Only' Role Right will only see Item Name Alias values.
The user won't have to change their Display Settings due to this configuration removing that choice for the users with the Role assigned.
Any Roles assigned to Users that should have choice between Display and Alias name values, should be assigned the Role Right 'View Item Display Name or Name Alias'.
Any Role assigned to Users that should only see Display Name item names should be assigned the 'View Display Name Only' Role Right.
The Administrator Role is different in that it is required to have access to both options. It must have the 'View Item Name Alias Only' Role Right option available as a Role Right and is the only choice available for that Role.
For configuration of Users permitted to see either Item Name or Item Name Alias take these steps.
For any Role assigned to Users who should see both Item Name or Item Name Alias values:
Any User with a Role and this Role Right configuration will have the option via their User Configuration to see either Item Name or Item Name Alias.
