Issue/Introduction

The tape XXXXXXX got the error message IECTMS3 XXXX,XXXXXXX,IS NOT SCRTCH (24) when it was mounted to satisfy a scratch mount request. This scratch tape was assigned with the outcode and slot by mistake. After the volume has been changed with outcode and slot of hexzeros, CTSSYNC ran to sync it to scratch but the job failed with: REQUEST FAILED RC=012,RS=312,FB=00000000.

Environment

Release:
Component: 1

Resolution

Received message: REQUEST FAILED RC=012,RS=312,FB=00000000

The 312 means:

The RS of 312 indicates:

FUNCTION NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE LIBRARY

REQUEST FAILED RC=rc,RS=rsn,FB=nnnnnn
The request (SCRATCH, PRIVATE, PROTECT, SYNC) failed with a return code of rc; and reason code of rsn. The return code and reason code combinations are in the LCS External Services Parameter List (LCSPL), mapped by IBM macro CBRLCSPL. This macro can be found in SYS1.MACLIB.

The recommendation is to follow up with IBM as the CA 1 code is working as it should. The device (IBM) is not allowing the change.
