Automatic Selection of First Request in Identity Portal

Issue/Introduction

In Identity Portal, the user interface is designed to automatically select the first available work item in the reviewer's list. This pre-selection is intended to reduce the number of clicks required for single-item processing but may lead to accidental actions if not monitored.

Cause

The automatic selection of the first approval task is a native design feature of Identity Portal and is not considered a defect. The system logic follows these rules:

• By default, the first work item in the list is highlighted and its checkbox is marked.
• Clicking a different work item will select that item and deselect the previous one.
• Multi-selection is only maintained if the user specifically clicks the checkboxes of individual work items.

Resolution

To ensure accurate processing of requests and avoid accidental approvals or rejections, follow these steps:

1. Verify Selection: Before clicking Approve or Reject, confirm which work item is currently highlighted or checked.
2. Change Selection: Click directly on the text or area of a different work item to shift the selection to that specific request.
3. Manual Checkbox Use: If multiple requests must be processed, click the individual checkboxes for each item to prevent the default "single-select" logic from deselecting your previous choice.
