Issue/Introduction

Noticing a large number of MIMQ0508W messages being issued recursively on a couple of systems.

Example:  MIMQ0508W Missed heartbeat message from system TSTA

In general, these MIMQUERY heartbeat messages are not a problem if noticed on occasion. However, if  they are being generated at a high frequency rate the cause needs to be determined.

Environment

CA MIM MIMQUERY
CA Common Services CCITCPGW connectivity between LPARS

Cause

The MIMQUERY heartbeat process is not getting back a response within it's expected time frame. This time frame is not configurable.

Resolution

Bump the CCITCPGW|CCISSLGW task to a higher service class than MIMQUERY to resolve the high frequency of the heartbeat messages. General rule of thumb is that the CCI task should be in an equal or higher service class than any address space it is providing a service for.
