Unload/reload IDMS catalog areas

Issue/Introduction

When needing to enlarge all of the three catalog areas, DDLCAT, DDLCATX and DDLCATLOD, is it possible to unload/reload all three areas in one job?

Environment

Release: All supported releases.

Resolution

This is not possible since different subschemas are needed for these areas.

IDMSCATL is the subschema that must be used to unload/reload the DDLCATLOD area. IDMSCATZ is the subschema that must be used to unload/reload the DDLCAT and DDLCATX areas. These two areas may be processed together.

Unload/reload the  DDLCATLOD area first, since subschema IDMSCATL contains only the DDLCATLOD area. Subschema IDMSCATZ, used for unloading the DDLCAT and DDLCATX areas, also contains the DDLCATLOD area. This will cause the DDLCATLOD area to be readied and may cause an 0970 on DDLCATLOD area, if using the new DMCL and pointing to new DDLCATLOD file. The 0970 is an open failure and will prevent the reload from succeeding.
