Issue/Introduction

This article provides procedures for customizing the email body content for temporary one-time password (OTP) notifications in Identity Manager.

Resolution

Identity Manager supports three methods for customizing OTP email notifications. Select the method that aligns with your current configuration:

1. Management Console Configuration

   • Navigate to Management Console > Environments > Advanced Settings > E-mail.
   • Ensure the "forgotten password" event is added to the list.
   • Edit the corresponding .tmpl file located on the server at: /deployments/iam_im.ear/custom/emailtemplate/default/.
   • Clear the application server cache (e.g., delete the temp directory and restart WildFly/JBoss) to apply changes.

2. Identity Manager UI (System Email Object)

   • Navigate to System > E-mail in the Identity Manager UI.
   • Locate and select Generate OTP delivery.
   • Select the Contents tab to modify the email body text as required.

3. Custom Policy Express (PX) Policy

   • Navigate to Policies > Policy Express.
   • Locate your custom PX policy under Action Rules.
   • If the action type is set to mail, you may edit the email template directly within the policy configuration.

Note: OTP composition rules are managed at the code level and are not configurable. All OTPs are generated as 8-character strings.
