Issue/Introduction

What causes an IGD308I message?

IGD308I DATA SET ALLOCATION REQUEST FAILED - DATA SET OWNER owning_logonid IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO CREATE DATA SET dataset_name WITH MANAGEMENT CLASS management_class

Environment

Release:
Component: ACF2MS

Resolution

The dataset is owned by the logonid, but it is being created on a volume that is managed by SMS and is in a MGMTCLAS to which he does not have access.

The violation would appear in the ACFRPTRV report.

To resolve the problem either allocate the dataset on a volume that the user does have access to, or modify the existing resource rule to allow the logonid access to the management class shown in the IGD308I message.

Check the SHOW CLASMAP display to determine if MGMTCLAS is being mapped to the resource type of MGM or if a new CLASMAP has been added to map STORCLAS to some other 3-character resource type.
Note the resource class MGMTCLAS defaults to TYPE(MGM). If necessary, write a new resource rule for a new storage class.

Sample rule to allow USER001 access to MGMTCLAS TESTCLS:

$KEY(TESTCLS) TYPE(MGM)
  UID(********USER001) ALLOW
