Using the ACK and CLR Line Commands from the Alert Screen

Issue/Introduction

When a started task is down, the ALERTS and ALERTSUM screens will show a 'STATUS' of DOWN for the started task. Will issuing the ACK and CLR line commands change the status from DOWN to WARNING? What are these 2 commands actually doing when issued?

Resolution

The ACK and CLR line commands do NOTHING to the alerting process. They simply changes the ACK column on ALERTS (which is drilled down to from ALERTSUM). When you type ACK on the line command next to an alert, you will see ACK displayed in the Ack column. When you type the CLR line command next to an alerts that has been previously ACK’ed, it will clear the ACK and the Ack column will become blank again. The ACK and CLR line command in no way change the status of a current alert from PROBLEM to WARNING, or any other status. It is simply a tool to be used on the ALERTS display to know if someone is already looking at an alert or an alert is already known to be okay so the next person does not have to look at it.
