Issue/Introduction
The client had used =3.4 to delete a Deliver database extent. They they went to run RMODBASE ADDDS, to add a Deliver database extent, and they received message:
RMODBI01 Allocation Failed for DSN Error=1708 Info=2 DS=005
They were unable to use their database until the matter was taken care of.
Environment
CA Deliver - All Releases
Resolution
Addressing most important matters first: NEVER, under ANY circumstance, delete a single Deliver database extent or any single CA View database extent.
The client was able to have the database extent restored from a volume backup, returning to a complete database. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As there was also a problem with a nearly full Checkpoint file on a test system, had the client do the following: . Use "/F rmostc,OFF", to bring down the related Deliver RMOSTC task(s). . Run RMODBASE MAKECKPT with: MAKECKPT UNIT=xxx VOLSER=yyyyyy CYLS=50 EMPTY
With the above, the client was able to allocate a larger Checkpoint file, which should not fill up as did the previous file.
