Issue/Introduction

How to change the Service Provider Business Unit ID in CA Service Catalog to get a new root level setting for your company/environment.

CA Service Catalog 17.x

Resolution

Decide about how to set the value for the "Service Provider" business unit ID before you start the installation.  After you have installed CA Service Catalog, the following conditions exist:

  1. You cannot change the business unit ID of the Service Provider level
  2. You can change the business unit login ID and the business unit name Service Provider. 
    >> However, as good practice, keep all three values (BU ID, BU Login ID and BU Name) the same.

During the Catalog Component installation, you specify a "Service Provider"(SP) business unit ID. This ID specifies the "top level, root, service provider" business unit. All other business units are structured under the root business unit. As good practice:

  1. Specify your company domain name or a short version of your company name for this ID.
  2. And keep all three values (BU ID, BU Login ID and BU Name) the same.

Additional Information

While it is not possible to change the Business Unit ID after installation, you can change the Business Unit Name:

  1. Navigate to the Administration tab and the Business Units sub-tab.
  2. Click the "pencil" icon next to the name of the business unit
  3. On this screen you can change the Business Unit Name and click the "OK" button.
