Issue/Introduction

This article describes how to resolve duplicate key violations in Identity Management workflows using the IdCheck utility. When data integrity issues occur, specifically within the Workpoint components, the IdCheck tool recalculates unique IDs to restore synchronization.

Environment

Identity Manager 14.5

Cause

A duplicate key violation occurs when the NEXT_IDs tracked in the WP_ID_GEN table become out of sync, leading to primary key conflicts during workflow script generation or updates in the WP_SCRIPT_LINE table.

Resolution

Note: The IdCheck utility is a Windows-based GUI tool and cannot run directly on the Virtual Appliance (vApp) console.

  1. Stop the WorkPoint servers before proceeding.
  2. Navigate to the following directory on the vApp: /opt/CA/IdentityManager/IAM_Suite/IdentityManager/tools/Workpoint/.
  3. Copy the entire contents of this directory to a Windows-based machine.
  4. Ensure your SQL JDBC driver is added to the classpath as configured in IdCheck.bat.
  5. Execute IdCheck.bat.
  6. Configure the database connection parameters in the tool window.
  7. Click Analyze. Out-of-sync tables will be highlighted.

  8. Click Fix. The tool will confirm with "The Selected table(s) were fixed."

  9. Restart the WorkPoint servers (or run restart_ig on the vApp).
