Issue/Introduction

In CA SAM, how does one grant an end user superuser rights, to allow tasks such as browsing/modifying app configuration?

Environment

CA Software Asset Manager (SAM) 4.2 and higher

Resolution

Any user performing these tasks has to have the is_superuser flag set in the user table of the SAM Application. Due to security reasons this cannot be done via the SAM Application.

By default the user account admin, created during database initialisation, is the only user who has that flag set.

In the event that more users with superuser privileges are required, the required flag has to be set using a database client, (SQL Management studio, TOAD, PHPMyadmin etc.). Select the required user entry from the table users and change the value in column is_superuser from 0 to 1
