Issue/Introduction
The following is an explanation of the 'HistoryFile'/'.HIS' for the CA Service Catalog product.
When you apply a patch for the Service Catalog (SC) environment, that patch then gets recorded in the so called HistoryFile. So, the first time you apply a patch, this file will be created. And then the file will be appended each time you apply a(nother) patch again.
The name of this file is build of the following components: The literal 'CA_SLCM_' concatenated with the <hostname> and suffix '.HIS'. (in a commandprompt, you can run the command: hostname) E.G. CA_SLCM_WSQL2008.HIS ======== ======== ==== The file is stored in the %USM_HOME% folder. E.G. C:\Program Files\CA\Service Catalog
It is mostly the first thing asked by the Level 1(and 2) Support Engineer, taking ownership of a case. 'Please send me the .HIS file which then shows me on which maintenance level your environment is running on.'.
