The steps needed to be carried out when upgrading ACF2 r15.0 to ACF2 r16.0 and running CICS/TS v5.2.
When planning to upgrade ACF2 r15.0 to ACF2 r16.0 and running CICS/TS v5.2, are there any steps needed to be carried out from the CICS perspective?
There are no steps needed to be carried out from the CICS perspective when upgrading to ACF2 r16.0. ACF2 r16.0 is fully compatible with CICS/TS v5.2.
If you are planning to run CICS Security using ACF/CICS r16.0 Option, then there may be options you need with regards to ACF/CICS r16.0 Option, not CICS/TS v5.2. To help you with this, we provide a manual, ACF2 CICS Support
We also advise that you APPLY all of the current ACF2 r16.0 and ACF/CICS r16.0 Option maintenance, there are a few ACF/CICS r16.0 Option PTFs that should be APPLY'd.
When upgrading from ACF2 r15.0 to ACF2 r16.0, the only two things you need to be concerned about for the actual upgrade:
1.) z/OS Operating System compatibility.
2.) CA Common Services compatibility with CICS/TS v5.2.
This information is available from the following CA web site:
https://ftp.broadcom.com/user/downloads/pub/MSPSaccount/COMPAT/zos_compat.HTML#IN000035_ACF160_PTFLIST
To answer (1) above, ACF2 r16.0 is fully compatible with z/OS v1.13 and z/OS v2.1 and requires no ACF2 PTFs for these Operating System versions.
For z/OS v2.2, again ACF2 r16.0 is fully compatible with this version but it does require the APPLY of two ACF2 PTFs, RO89039 and RO89501, both for FMID CAX1G00.
To answer (2) above, the minimum support requirements for CICS/TS v5.2 are for the CA product, ENF/CICS, is:
CA Common Services for z/OS r14.1 plus PTF RO64919
...or...
CA Common Services for z/OS v14.0 plus PTF RO64920
Other than all of the above, there is no further information available. In short, there are no steps needed to be carried out from the CICS perspective when upgrading to ACF2 r16.0.
