Issue/Introduction

This message comes from the auto restore task. Using ISPF option 3.4, this dataset resides on the MIGRATC volume.   The LISTDMS level (XXXXXX.XXXXXXXX.XXXXXX) confirms there is no index record.

If the archive expires, does the dataset would get uncataloged? What would cause this condition? How is it possible to determine the other datasets on the MIGRATC volume that have no Disk archive?

Resolution

With SYSPARM UNCATPSU set to X, this seems to explain the orphaned catalog entries as this sysparm controls the action taken to a catalog entry for an archived data set when the last DSNINDEX record for the data set is deleted. A value of X specifies that no catalog action be taken. It is honored for SMS and non-SMS data sets. This will leave the cataloged entries intact for any subsequent REBUILD processing.
