Can the field for the Resource names in the Graphical Monitor be made longer?
The resource list obtained from the zoom command followed by the FORMAT command within the Graphical Monitor (i.e: /GMON) returns the following List of selectable formats:
============================================================================ NM01A------------------- Status Monitor List Formats ----------------------- Command ===> Scroll ===> CSR S=Select List Appl Type User ID Name Description $RM PRI IPRSC DEFAULT IP Resource Monitor Format $RM PRI IPRSC LOGSTAT IP Resource Monitor LogicalState **END** ============================================================================
The resource list obtained from the FORMAT command within the Resource Monitor (i.e.: /RMON) returns the following List of selectable formats:
============================================================================ NM01A------------------- Status Monitor List Formats ----------------------- Command ===> Scroll ===> CSR S=Select List Appl Type User ID Name Description $RM PRI COLUMNS1 DEFAULT Default Status Monitor Format $RM PRI COLUMNS1 EXTDISP Emphasize Extended Display Field $RM PRI COLUMNS1 LONGNAME Status Monitor - Long Rsc Names $RM PRI COLUMNS1 SYSID Shows Current System for ALL Rsc $RM PRI COLUMNS1 SYSTEM Shows Shared Rsc Current System **END** ============================================================================
Even the similar 'Status Monitor List Formats', both are differently handled. The first one is driven from a Graphical Monitor perspective and the second one is driven from a Resource monitor perspective.
If the 'LONGNAME' format, for example, is desired from the Graphical Monitor then this can be copied from the Resource Monitor for the corresponding Userid.
The new format will be available after copy under MODSUSR file and not in MODSDIS file. This is acceptable and legitimate customization.
All formats are not available everywhere and customization is necessary for specific requirement.
To do this customization, you need to select the option '/ASADMIN.L', which gives:
============================================================================ NM01A--------- CAS : List Definition List for Application $RM -------------- Command ===> Scroll ===> CSR S/B=Browse U=Update C=Copy D=Delete Appl Type User ID Name Description FileID $RM PRI COLUMNS1 DEFAULT Default Status Monitor Format MODSDIS $RM PRI COLUMNS1 EXTDISP Emphasize Extended Display Field MODSDIS $RM PRI COLUMNS1 LONGNAME Status Monitor - Long Rsc Names MODSDIS $RM PRI COLUMNS1 SYSID Shows Current System for ALL Rsc MODSDIS $RM PRI COLUMNS1 SYSTEM Shows Shared Rsc Current System MODSDIS $RM PRI COLUMNS2 DEFAULT Default Status Monitor Format MODSDIS $RM PRI COLUMNS3 DEFAULT Default Status Monitor Format MODSDIS $RM PRI COLUMNS4 DEFAULT Default Status Monitor Format MODSDIS $RM PRI COLUMNS5 DEFAULT Default Status Monitor Format MODSDIS $RM PRI FILETRAN DEFAULT File Transfer Monitor - Default MODSDIS $RM PRI FILETRAN SHORT File Transfer Monitor Short Name MODSDIS $RM PRI IPNODE ADDRESS IP Nodes in IP Address Order MODSDIS $RM PRI IPNODE DEFAULT Default IP Node Monitor Format MODSDIS $RM PRI IPNODE DEFAULT6 Default Format for use with IPv6 MODSDIS $RM PRI IPNODE LOGSTAT IP Node Monitor - Logical State MODSDIS $RM PRI IPNODE MULTISYS IP Node Monitor - Multi-System MODSDIS $RM PRI IPRSC DEFAULT IP Resource Monitor Format MODSDIS $RM PRI IPRSC LOGSTAT IP Resource Monitor LogicalState MODSDIS $RM PRI NCPVIEW DEFAULT NCP Monitor Format MODSDIS **END** ============================================================================
...'C'opy the required definition, and change the Userid to the correct Userid and save the change. This will then show:

...and now the Format 'LONGNAME' will be visible and useable in the Graphical Monitor screen.
