Issue/Introduction

XCOM SSL transfer jobs are successful using both ports 8045 (SSL port) and 8044 (non-SSL port). Current XCOM default settings pertaining to SSL and non-SSL connections are:
IPPORT=8044
SECURE_SOCKET=NO
SERVPORT=08044
SSL=ALLOW
SSL_VERSION=SYSTEM
SSLPORT=08045

Why is this the case when specific ports are defined for SSL and non-SSL transfers in the XCOM default parameters?

Environment

XCOM r12.0 using IBM System SSL

Cause

This is not an error.

Resolution

When using System SSL the non-SSL port will be upgraded to a secure socket and all communication is secured. You should see messages such as "XCOMM1501I Attempting to upgrade partner connection to secure socket" or "XCOMM0500I Partner requesting upgrade to secure socket connection." in your job and server.
