Clarity PPM: How can I change the Input Type Code values?

Issue/Introduction

We have a requirement to change the input type codes values.

We have already changed the input type code names, but the lookup values are apparently the input type code ID values instead of the names, as we would expect.

What is the best way to handle this situation as we do not want to create any orphan records or other data integrity issues?

Cause

• This is working by designed as the ID value populates for Input Type code and Charge Code fields.
• The workaround would be for any future Input Type Codes or Charge Codes is to make the Name and ID identical. 

Resolution

Recommended solution:

• Deactivate the existing input type code and create a new input type code.
• This is low risk as it will show change history and does not affect past financial transaction history in PPA_WIP.
• Users will be accustomed to the new value/code and any custom reporting can be easily maintained.

Additional Information

You can also submit an enhancement request to display the Name instead of the ID.
