Issue/Introduction

As we need to keep a Dataset Volume for three years, will NGen:1, Retention:2, and Exp Date:01/01/2022 keep the 1 volume active and Not Scratch eligible until the Exp Date?

Environment

• z/VSE  6.2
• Dynam/T  7.1

Resolution

I was able to follow up with Level 2 this morning and verified that having the Exp Date set to 01/01/2022 will maintain the volume and it will not be scratched during that time.

In addition, the Dynam User Guide section entitled 'Using CA Dynam/T' and 'Establishing Retention Characteristics' specifies that:  'Before the system permits a generation to be scratched, the generation must be eligible for scratch under all the retention schemes associated with the data set.'
