Issue/Introduction

When attempting to install CA Service Management 17.x, receive an error stating "DBA User does not have sysadmin privilege. Please provide the user with sysadmin privilege."

Why does the installer need sysadmin permissions on the MDB database?

Environment

Service Management 17.x

All Supported Database Management Systems (DBMS)

Resolution

The common installer which installs both the CA Service Management 17.x solution and the cumulative patches (RU patches), needs to create the MDB, modify tables and schema and create users.

Therefore, the installer requires sysadmin privileges on the MDB database.
