Can we test with existing applications with the upgrade release runtimes?

Issue/Introduction

We are in the process of upgrading to CA Gen 8.6 from 8.5. All developers are currently using the 8.5 Host Encyclopedia. We have created a test version of the CA Gen Host Encyclopedia to 8.6.  As part of the upgrade process, we would like to put the 8.5 application DLL library in the 8.6 application DLL library in our test environment in order to perform volume testing with our 8.5 generated COBOL programs. Would this impact ongoing development via the CA Gen 8.5 Host Encyclopedia?

Resolution

It is best to copy all executable load libraries that will be used in CICS to new library names.  This will avoid overlay of the changes made in Gen 8.5 avoiding unexpected results in Gen 8.6 testing and possible DB2 abends.  This would include internal, external, and batch executable load libraries.
