Issue/Introduction

Spectrum asserts a suppressed alarm on models when contact is lost. How do I configure Spectrum to send these suppressed alarms to AlarmNotifier?

Environment

Release: Any
Component: SPCAEM

Resolution

The following instructions will configure Spectrum to send suppressed alarms to AlarmNotifier:

1. The "Disable Suppressed Alarms" parameter in the Alarm Management subview in the Information tab of the VNM model must be set to "No".

2. The "GET_GRAY_INITIAL_ALARMS" parameter in the $SPECROOT/Notifier/.alarmrc file (or whatever rc file you are using for AlarmNotiifier) must be set to "true". After making changes to the .alarmrc file, the AlarmNotifier process must be restarted to pick up the change

3. Create a filter in your SANM policy to process Suppressed alarms.

NOTE: When Spectrum loses contact with a device model and asserts either a critical or suppressed alarm on the device model, ALL of the child models (interface and application models) associated with the device model are suppressed. This could cause thousands of suppressed alarms. So it is critical to create a SANM filter to only send the required suppressed alarms to AlarmNotifier.

The following is from the NOTIFIER.OUT of a suppressed alarm passed to AlarmNotifier:
