After converting from JES3 to JES2 JOBCLASS variable has 1 character

Issue/Introduction

We recently converted from JES3 to JES2 on z/OS 2.2.

We were able to keep our 8 character job classes, but now when I run an OPS rule that is checking that JOBCLASS variable, it only has 1 character in it.

We are on release 12.2 and I know that is out of support. Is there a way to get 8 character job class or do we have to install new version of OPS/MVS?
