Issue/Introduction

Does a RACROUTE request for CLASS TCICSTRN only issue an OTRAN check in Top Secret or will it also issue an LCF check?  Are there requirements for the use of TCICSTRN resource class security in Top Secret?

Resolution

TCICSTRN is the resource class name used by CICS to have its transactions protected by RACF. With Top Secret, the equivalent resource class name is OTRAN. When CICS issues a RACROUTE call for the TCICSTRN class, it is converted to OTRAN for Top Secret. 

If you have SEC=YES, XTRAN=YES set in the CICS SIT parameters or, in the Top Secret CICS facility, FACMATRX=YES, EXTSEC=YES, XTRAN=YES then TCICSTRN is active via OTRAN. 

If the resource is not owned/protected in Top Secret, then there will be an LCF check for the transaction.
