VMNTASKS; Problem with TASK TMC_BACKUP

Issue/Introduction

VMNTASKS Task TMC-BACKUP not running in an SSI configuration.

VMNTASKS (formerly AIC) task TMC_BACKUP fails in an SSI Environment or when running VM:Tape with a shared TMC and AUDIT file (SDF) stating the following:

VMC70038 Shared TMC environment found; VMTAPE's extended profile has been disabled. VMC70429 Not enough disk space on TMC disk to backup audit file. VMC70445 Error backing up VMTAPE tape management catalog, RC=4.

Environment

Products configured to run in an SSI environment.

Cause

VMNTASKS (formerly AIC) task TMC_BACKUP fails in an SSI Environment or when running VM:Tape with a shared TMC and AUDIT file (SDF).

Additionally, there may be problems with errors stating there is not enough space on the TMC disk to backup the AUDIT FILE; or, the AUDIT disk to backup the TMC FILE:
 
 VMC70429 Not enough disk space on TMC disk to backup audit file.
 VMC70445 Error backing up VMTAPE tape management catalog, RC=4.
 

Resolution

Apply PTF SO06447 which necessitated a redesign of the TMC_BACKUP Task. The major part of the redesign is the addition of a new minidisk to the VM:Tape configuration.
 

Additional Information

The VMNTASKS task TMC_BACKUP has been redesigned to prevent these problems.
These changes are described in the UMEMO of the PTF and provide instructions to implement.
