Issue/Introduction

Starting CA SYSVIEW after an IPL , the following message are returned:
GSVX286E (LCL3270D.LOGON) Unable to determine devn 1F4F screen size - 24x80 assumed
GSVS287E (LCL3270D.LOGON) Devn 1F4F initialization error 00000100 00000000
GSVX284E (LCL3270D LOGON) I/O error on WRITE to IEFRDER devn 1F4F
GSVX285E (LCL3470D.LOGON) 1F4F,G,IEFRDER,**- OP,UNKNOWN COND

Environment

Sysview, z/OS

Cause

SYSVLCL session fails with I/O errors, and various GSVX error messages when the terminal/emulation software is not connected to the device when SYSVLCL is started. 

Resolution

Terminal/emulator must be connected prior to starting SYSVLCL. The error actually was  due to a typo on the terminal definition. Then starting the SYSVLCL after have corrected, it all work fine.
