Issue/Introduction

Changing a security profile or adding items to a already existing profile or even creating new assets within security is a large job for ITCM, causing hundreds of requests to the MDB.

Changes within the Security functionality within ITCM may result in a hang of the GUI for around 10 minutes and the following messages may appear:

Security Error: Database error [CMM001300]

ADO Version 6.1 - ExecuteCommandPointer []  -COM Error: ErrorCode:-2147217871,WordErrorCode:3121, IDispatch error #3121, Query timeout expired, Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0, (null)

The requested operation is not processed.

Environment

CA Client Automation - All supported versions.

Resolution

Due to the complex nature of the security function and the overall workload of the installation, especially the engines, it may happen, that the timeout value for the database operations is not large enough to allow the request to finish within that timeframe.

In order to enlarge the timeout value, enter the following command on the Domain Manager and eventually on the Enterprise Server

ccnfcmda -cmd SetParameterValue -ps itrm/database -pn CommandTimeout -v 30
