Gen z/OS runtime LMP license key requirements

Issue/Introduction

There are 2 LPARs SYSA and SYSB.

On SYSA the Gen Host Encyclopedia is installed. 

On SYSB are only the Gen applications and runtime libraries are installed 

Does SYSB need the LMP license keys installed?

Environment

Gen Runtime (z/OS).

Resolution

Gen does LMP license key checking at runtime for Distributed Processing Server applications using TCP/IP Direct Connect (CICS/IMS Sockets) or MQ.
Gen only puts out warnings, but does not stop the application(s) from executing.
Gen does not perform LMP license key checks for regular runtime applications such as Block Mode or Batch applications.
