Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to CA View 12.2, why is the View index showing an increase in the use of Index space?

Environment

CA View 12.2

Resolution

CA View 12.2's use of JOBMODE:

. Adds Job records to the database index for every report that is archived.

There are new JCR (Job) and JDR (Job X-ref) records, to support use of JOB mode.

. Adds Job records only for text-based and non-CA Deliver reports.

For instance, if there are 10,000 jobs run in a day, and collected are their job log, JCL listing, and message data set, then added would be 10,000 new JCR records and potentially up to 30,000 new JDR records.

Per the above, this will especially affect View databases used to collect job run output.

As a workaround, if the View database is SARDBASE VERSIONed back to 12.1, then Job records will not be retained.

With this, though, there would still be the ability to run the View 12.2 software.
