Issue/Introduction

Is there a way to prevent the "Resource - Manager (Auto)" instance right for Resource Managers?

• To prevent it the resource as showing as a full license, requesting removal of the above right.

Cause

If a user is assigned as the Resource Manager, then that user is automatically granted the Resource - Manager (Auto) rights for that resource, and it's not possible to remove this. 

Instance Right	Resource - Manager (Auto)
Description	The user creating a new resource is automatically granted this right. In other words, the user becomes the resource manager for the resource. It allows the user to view and edit general resource properties. If the resource is assigned another resource manager, the present resource manager will lose rights to the resource.

• This is working as designed, as this auto right eliminates the need for an administrator to grant that individual the instance rights.
• Without these implied rights, the administrative overhead of constantly managing specific rights as users change assignments becomes time-consuming.

Resolution

There is no way to prevent this from happening unless you do not use the OOTB field.

• Here are some ways to prevent the rights from being assigned automatically:
  1. Do not use the field Resource manager (or in case of other auto rights: Project Manager, Department Manager, Program Manager)
  2. Hide the fields and substitute a custom field that associates the user as the manager
  In the above cases, administrators need to explicitly grant rights.
