Issue/Introduction

I took a backup of the first track of all our dasd.   We specify COMPRESS in the backup.
The dasd is defined as DEVNO in the directory. 
The backup was successful but the restore through syblist failed.
 
The LG file from the restore attempt shows:

….perhaps SDRDCM is a decompression routine since the backup specified COMPRESS.

Cause

Trying to RESTORE from backups that were created using the COMPRESS option when the HiDRO server is running with virtual storage > 128M. 


 
 

Resolution

Apply HiDRO PTF SO05980 that was created to correct the EC 08C ABEND  received when trying to RESTORE backups that were created using the COMPRESS option when the HiDRO server is running with virtual storage > 128M. 

After you apply and deploy PTF SO05980, you should be able to leave your HiDRO server with virtual storage of 1G (or whatever you normally have specified) for both the BACKUP and RESTORE operations.
