Issue/Introduction

I am running a report similar to TMEDSN01 about tapes in the TMC looking at values for the WORM_IND field in the EARLDEFS copybook. Running the report shows the following values of I, N, V, & Y. It is my understanding that a value of Y would indicate that the tape volser is a WORM tape and a value of N would indicate that the tape volser is not a WORM tape. What do the values of I and V indicate?

A “Y” means it is a physical WORM tape but no WORM-ID is present.
An “I” means that it is a physical WORM tape and it has an ID.
A “V” means it is a VIRTUAL WORM cartridge.
Technically, you won’t see a “Y” (it is a physical WORM without a WORM-ID). So a physical WORM is an “I” and a virtual-WORM is a “V”.
