In Manage Certificates > Certificate Properties > Validation,
"Verify Hostname for Outbound SSL Connections" (*) is checked ON, such as following.

Yes. Gateway supports verification of Multi-domain (SAN) certificate validation.
The certificate, for example (*.google.com), is Multi-domain wildcard certificate. All the domain in the SAN, as well as all subdomains of which contains a wildcard, example, *.google.com or *.google.ca, will be successfully validated.
Wildcard hostname verification will be done only if you have set Cluster Wide Property io.httpsHostAllowWildcard = true
