Issue/Introduction

Tried to rebuild Disk backup tape that had not yet been re-used:
-   changed Status, Owner, Expiration date, Return to SCRATCH pool in the RMM panels like he has done many times before
-   ran the Disk rebuild job with user abend
-   even tried to change Owner from STXZ001 to STMV001 with same result

What can be the reason ?
Is the following be a reason:
Tried to make a scratch tape to master, but is was already 'expired' by VTS.
Therefore this tape lost for the system.
Would be better to try to use tape(s) which was/were not released earlier?

COPY ST of the related volume is REQR. Does it matter ?

Resolution

REBUILD failed with
PET202I USER ABEND(U0100) AT PSW(078D1000 800245B2) caused by an empty tape

EDG4026I VOLUME vol1 REJECTED. FIRST FILE HDR1 NAME 00000000000000000 DOES NOT MATCH RECORDED NAME

This confirms, that contents of the tape is lost as it was already deleted from the VTS.

In DISK you can create an optional copy for a backup/archive tape. However, this copy tape is scratched at the same time as the primary tape. So just in case such a tape was created, this is probably lost as well in the meantime.
If you still have an old DISK LISTV report for example, you can check if there was a COPY (see the COPY KEY field).
If yes, you might try to reactivate this one and see if REBUILD works.
