Gen Gen - Host Encyclopedia

Issue/Introduction

Cleaning up the Gen 8.6 Host Encyclopedia and discovered there are 5.x models (scheme '8.0.A3') which are not accessible to be deleted or converted using the Gen 8.6 software.
How can these 5.x models be deleted?

Environment

Gen 8.6 Host Encyclopedia.

Resolution

One method to do this is to delete the row from the DMDL table for each unwanted model and then let the cleanup utility TIECLEAN delete the remaining model objects.

See Gen doc. page Gen™ 8.6 > Encyclopedia > Host Encyclopedia > Host Encyclopedia Administration > Host Encyclopedia Utilities

TIECLEAN: Use this utility once a week. This utility deletes all components of any model that does not have a row in the DMDL table.

  1. Sample DMDL SQL to find old models i.e. 5.x models which have '8.0.A3':
    SELECT * FROM DMDL WHERE MODEL_RELEASE IN (‘8.0.A3’);

  2. Review the list of models returned before using DELETE SQL to delete the rows for the unwanted models.
    NOTE: Before running any DELETE SQL it is always advisable to have a recent HE database backup.

  3. Then run the TICLEAN utility.
