Issue/Introduction

On an IBM mainframe, when a power-on reset (POR) is performed to load new input/output data files (IODFs),
CA recommends to restart the HISRV : HARDWARE INTERFACE SERVICE to read the new changes

Environment

Release: COMCOM00200-17.0-Database Management Solutions-for DB2 for z/OS
Component:

Resolution

When a power-on reset (POR) is performed to load a new IODF and HISRV is running.
The HIS Topology Collection functionality to respond to hardware changes was not built into the HISRV : HARDWARE INTERFACE SERVICE.

This causes the following error messages:

For deleted hardware:
NKAG81 (FOLLOWING $HWBE), UNREC BCPII EVENT CODE/SUBCODE. VALUES: 3 6

For added hardware:
NKAG81 (FOLLOWING $HWBE), UNREC BCPII EVENT CODE/SUBCODE. VALUES: 3 5

The $HWBE dump following the NKAG80 message shows the name of the hardware element that was deleted or added.

CA recommends to restart the HISRV : HARDWARE INTERFACE SERVICE to read the new changes and establish a correct topology.
