PDSMAN PDS Library Management: Automatic LLA Re-synchronization using PDSM35

Environment

Release: 7.7

Resolution

The PDSMAN LLA/E Batch Interface and Reporting utility, PDSM35, LLACHECK control statement provides the option to automatically re-synchronize LLA directory entries with physical library directories in a batch environment. This option, introduced in PDSMAN provides a powerful tool that you can use as part of a change management cutover process.

The syntax for the LLACHECK RESYNCH option is:

RESYNCH={Y/N}

Where

Y - Indicates the physical library and LLA should be automatically re-synchronized. This is accomplished by issuing LLACOPY for each member that is not in synchronization.

N (default) - Differences between the physical directory and LLA are reported, but no automatic re-synchronization is performed. PDSM35 operates the same as before RESYNCH was added.

You can use this facility as part of a scheduled change cutover process to automatically re-synchronize LLA with updated physical directories. For example, by simply adding a PDSM35 step with LLACHECK RESYNCH=Y, following an IEBCOPY step that updates LLA managed libraries, you ensure that LLA is synchronized with updated physical directories.

In addition, if the PDSMAN Cross-System Communication facility is enabled, LLA is automatically re-synchronized on all remote systems.
