Using the TPX View option

Issue/Introduction

We are considering removing the LMP key NZ for the TPX View option. How can we verify whether we are using this option or not?

Environment

• TPX® Session Management for z/OS
• Vman Session Management for z/OS

Cause

TPX uses Common Services LMP keys to activate the various components of TPX.

Resolution

With View LMP key active, you will see this messages in the TPX startup:

TPX9925 OPTION VIEW OF TPX IS AUTHORIZED

When you remove the LMP keys, these messages will disappear after the next IPL.

To see if any users are accessing TPXVIEW, search for TPXL0036 messages in the TPX log that indicate session TPXVIEW:

TPXL0036 ACB *INTRNAL SELECTED FOR USER <user> APPL TPXVIEW

Additional Information

NOTE:  As of May 2017, see Portfolio Simplification for TPX of GA base and option SKUs means that customers should be able to obtain all TPX LMP codes as part of their license.
