Issue/Introduction

Regarding CA HYPER NOTIFICATION SI05181 from August 2018:

The IBM PTFs for the Meltdown vulnerability have IBM APAR OA53954/OA55315/OA53955 as a PRE-REQ.

If CA Top Secret r16 is installed, but neither CA Top Secret PTF mentioned in SI05181 (SO04024 nor SO04627) is applied. can IBM APAR OA53954/OA55315/OA53955 still be applied to z/OS environments without affecting  Top Secret r16

Resolution

No. If the IBM APARs have been applied without  Top Secret r16 PTF SO05230, either:

1) Apply  Top Secret r16 PTFs SO05230 and SO04024/SO04627.

2) RESTORE the IBM APARs and wait to re-apply them until  Top Secret r16 PTFs SO05230 and SO04024/SO04627 can be applied.

Additional Information

If IBM APARs OA53954/OA55315/OA53955 are applied, CA Top Secret PTF SO04024 must also be applied. Otherwise, a S16E-28 abend in DEBCHK processing could occur.

Since SO04024 is in error, PTF SO04627 must be applied to correct it.

At that time, SO05230 should also be applied.
