Scratch part of a multi-volume/multi-file chain

Issue/Introduction

I have a 14 tape volume chain, containing nearly 10,000 files. All files are catalog control. All files on the first 12 volumes in the set are expired, only the last two volumes contain active files.
Is it possible to scratch the first 12 volumes, which do no longer contain active files?

This is not possible in CA 1. CA 1 can scratch the entire chain only.
If possible use a tape copy tool like CA 1 Copycat to copy the active files to new volumes, so that the old chain can be scratched.
