Issue/Introduction

Does PDSMAN fully support IBM's PDSE datasets? If not when will it or how does it support PDSEs now?

Resolution

Generally, PDSMAN supports PDSE libraries. However, there are some PDSMAN facilities that are simply not applicable to PDSEs because of the PDSE architecture.

There are also some PDSMAN facilities that have reduced functionality when processing PDSE or Program Object (a PDSE containing executable modules) libraries.

The following PDSMAN facilities are not applicable to PDSE or Program Object libraries:

Dynamic BLDL
FastStow
Library Space Reuse
LibraryAnalysis and Validation (PDSM13, FastCopy Validate)
Library Compression (FastCopy Compress)
Compression Scheduling (PDSM11)
Library Integrity Facility
Directory Space Monitoring

The following PDSMAN facilities have reduced functionality when processing PDSE and Program Object libraries:

MainBackup System
Descriptive Member Titles
Library Space Monitoring

The following PDSMAN facilities have reduced functionality for Program Object libraries only:
