Issue/Introduction

In the portal log we are seeing the following error:
30 Aug 2018 03:10:05,315 ERROR [DialectDetector:124] org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (The TCP/IP connection to the host HOSTNAME1, port 1433 has failed. Error: "connect timed out. Verify the connection properties, check that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting TCP/IP connections at the port, and that no firewall is blocking TCP connections to the port.".)
org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (The TCP/IP connection to the host STNAME1, port 1433 has failed. Error: "connect timed out. Verify the connection properties, check that an instance of SQL Server is running on the host and accepting TCP/IP connections at the port, and that no firewall is blocking TCP connections to the port.".)
    at org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.BasicDataSource.createPoolableConnectionFactory(BasicDataSource.java:1549)

However the UMP is up and running.
We checked the data_engine connection string and it is showing , HOSTNAME for the database server name not HOSTNAME1.

How can we correct this?

Cause

The root cause seems to be corrupted files in the temp directory.

Environment

UIM 9.0 and earlier
UMP 9.0 and earlier

Resolution

1) stop the wasp robot service
2) deactivate and activate the data_engine and test the connection
3) delete contents of c:\windows\temp pr /tmp
4) edit the wasp .cfg and set the connection = to blank. IE remove everything to the right of the =
5) save the file
6) start the robot service.

this could cause the connection string int he wasp.cfg to be reset for the working information in the data_engine probe
and stop the previous error from happening.
