UIM - Acknowledged alarms not being sent out via the snmpgtw probe

Issue/Introduction

We have snmpgtw probe version 1.40 we are using to integrate with Spectrum.

All the alarms and clear alarm messages are being sent and received by Spectrum as expected.
However when we acknowledge an alarm in UIM it is not being closed out in CA Spectrum.

How can we correct this?

Environment

- UIM 9.x/20.x and earlier
- snmpgtw 1.40 and earlier

Cause

The alarm_close message is a very special message.
The snmpgtw probe was not designed to handle this type of message.
 

Resolution

The Service Field team developed a probe that can be installed on windows or linux primary hubs. This probe is called close_alarm_gtw version 1.5

The steps are:

1) deploy the probe to the primary
2) setup a queue to monitor for alarm_close events
3) update the snmpgtw to look for alarm_close2 events as well as alarm events.

This should allow for acknowledged alarms to then be sent to spectrum (or other receiver) via the snmpgtw probe.
