PDSMAN r7.7 PTF RO08974 introduced PDSMAN Health Checks. The PDSMAN Health Check Services are automatically started as part of product initialization.
How can I disable PDSMAN Health Checks at PDSMAN start up?
As per CA standards, the startup of Health Checker services cannot be disabled.
Health checks allow you to identify potential problems before they negatively impact your system or computing environment. PDSMAN Health Check Services are automatically started when the PDSMAN address space is initialized. PDSMHCHK-01 messages are issued to the operator console to report the Health Check Services status.
It is a CA Best Practice that CA products attempt to register their health checks at startup and that individual products should not allow control of this registration by way of control statements, operator commands, or the like. Thus, it is not possible to disable the automatic health check registration that is performed at startup.
You can enable or disable individual checks, control how often they are run, or specify user health check parameters using documented IBM Health Checker interfaces, or by using a product such as CA SYSVIEW that provides similar functionality. These are the only methods that should be used for controlling PDSMAN health checks.
* PDSMAN_PDSMLMON_ACTIVE
* PDSMAN_PDSMPMON_ACTIVE
* PDSMAN_PDSMMCPU_ACTIVE
* PDSMAN_PDSMQMDB_ACTIVE
* PDSMAN_PDSMDB_ACTIVE
The checks monitor the status of the PDSMLMON, PDSMPMON, PDSMMCPU, PDSMQMDB, and PDSMDB subtasks, respectively.
