There was an error for the MSSQLSERVER process on the UIM database server around the time the error occurred. All entries in the CM_COMPUTER_SYSTEM and CM_DEVICE tables were missing.
Resolution
A couple of options can be used to resolve this:
1. Restore the UIM database from a known good backup copy 2. Cold start (deactivate, then activate) the discovery_server probe to repopulate the missing device tables. It would also be necessary to kick off a new discovery on all snmpcollector probes in the UIM domain and cold start all vmware probes to get the remote devices repopulated.
