Issue/Introduction

What changes are needed for an AE client and agent if the UNIX hostname changes?

Environment

Product - Workload Automation AE 11.3.x
Platform - Unix/Linux

Resolution

For an AE client there is nothing that is required to change if the local host's name is changed.

For an AE agent:
Stop the agent process
Remove the contents of the agent's database directory
Delete and reinsert the agent's machine definition via jil with the correct node_name information
If EnableIPCaching=1 on the scheduler, stop and restart the scheduler
Restart the agent

NOTE - The $AUTOUSER/autosys.<shell>.<hostname> files can also be changed but it is not required.
If they are changed, users need to update their $HOME/.profiles if they were configured to source them.
Also adjust the references to the files in the /etc/*profile* and /etc/auto.* files.
