When planning to upgrade IDMS to the latest release, the usual strategy is first to migrate the test, development and other non-production systems looking for any error and then if all is running well to migrate the productions CVs.
That means that during the migration, there is a time frame where application programs which have been compiled with the newest IDMS release have to run on production CVs which are still running with an older IDMS release.
Is this possible?
Release: All supported releases.
As far as programs go, if the newly compiled programs take advantage of some new feature in the new release that is not available in the older release, these programs may be impacted. These new features that may impact programs will be documented in any relevant APARs in the upgrade path as part of the HOLDDATA.
