Issue/Introduction
We are planning to upgrade our IDMS to the latest release. Our usual strategy migrating IDMS is first to migrate the test-, development-, integration-systems looking for any error and then if all is running well to migrate the productions CVs. That means that during the migration we are having a time frame where application programs which have been compiled with the newest IDMS release have to run on production CVs which are still running with an older IDMS release. Is this possible?
As far as programs go, if the newly compiled programs take advantage of some new feature in the new release that is not available in the older release, these programs may be impacted. These new features that may impact programs will be documented in the IDMS Release Notes and Incremental PTFs. You should review all Release Notes, and incremental release PTFs to see if they affect the compilers or ADSO.
