Does a SIMULATE produce the RC=16 because no action is actually taken?
Executing a FORWARD MERGE process using SIMULATE for a parameter and I receive a RC=16.
Does a SIMULATE produce the RC=16 because no action is actually taken?
The only message I see is:
ASMFM050 volser# contains logically deleted files - will be retained
A RC=16 is normal in SIMULATE processing. It is simply a return code that says no tapes were processed.
No tapes (virtual or otherwise) were processed but you do receive a report advising what "would" have been completed if the SIMULATE was not the option chosen and the execution would have been active.
In the System Reference Guide section 14.6.4 the return codes specified.
