Issue/Introduction

Are there any suggestions on how to determine RTASKS (Number of servers) to specify in CA TPX SMRT?

Environment

Release: NVINAM00200-5.4-TPX-Session Management-Access Management package
Component:

Resolution

We suggest that you use two times the number of engines on the LPAR, to a maximum of 12 and a minimum of 3.

For example, if the LPAR has 3 processors the suggested number for RTASKS would be 6.

Additional Information

From field level help in SMRT Performance Parameters for Rtasks:

Rtasks - Specifies the number of concurrent tasks used to pass data between the terminals and the connected sessions.

Recommended values:

  • Minimum of 3
  • Maximum of 2x, where x is the number of processors

Examples:

  • For a 4381-11 (1 processor), specify 3.
  • For a 3090-600 (6 processors), specify a number between 3 and 12.
