How can I tell whether or not History records are being collected?

Environment

z/OS 1.11 and above.

Resolution

  1. Select option 6 on the Insight main menu. You should find the "Thread History Selection" screen.

  2. If it appears, hit the PF5 key. If the "Thread History List" appears with data, Accounting records are being collected.

  3. Regarding Statistics, select option 2 on the main menu. The 'System History Selection' screen should appear.

  4. Hit the PF5 key. If the "System History List" appears with data, Statistics records are being collected.

The parameters that control whether or not to collect History are contained in your IDDCPRMS/SSIDSYSP members in your

<High.Level>.SOURCE library. They are:

HISTORY= (Values: [YES|NO]). Determines whether or not to collect Accounting History
HISTORY-ACCT= (Values: [YES|NO|FILTER]). Determines whether or not to collect all Accounting History,
no Accounting History, or filter the collection
HISTORY-STATS-TIME= (Values: 0 through 30 minutes). Determines how often a Statistics record is written to System History.
If you specify 0, no Statistics information is collected.
